SoftBank Group's official press release confirms it executed the third and final $10B tranche of its follow-on investment in OpenAI via SoftBank Vision Fund 2 on October 1, 2026.
- This completes the previously announced $30B follow-on investment, bringing SoftBank's cumulative investment in OpenAI to $64.6 billion with roughly a 13% ownership stake.
- The tranche was funded by foreign-currency-denominated senior notes (reported as an $11.1B junk bond); Masa Son had earlier sold his entire Nvidia stake to fund the initial payment.
