The author highlights Agility Robotics' Digit at IROS autonomously picking objects from a tote, walking them across the booth, and repeating until empty. Chris Paxton explained the stack: 500 real-world teleoperated demonstrations for the manipulation policy, a whole-body controller trained in simulation, deployed into a fully unseen environment with 80-90% success despite crowds and harsh lighting. Paxton stressed it's still research, not production — but a glimpse of how fast learned manipulation policies move into the messy real world.
