AI data firms' lowball offers for manufacturing IP spark satire and boycott calls
MatthewChang · x · 2026-10-01
Chang Robotics founder Matthew Chang posted a satirical poll mocking an SV AI data company's $35,420.69 offer for all of his company's IP — hat made in Bangladesh included. In the quoted post, Colin argues these AI companies don't understand manufacturing and are essentially trying to buy customer data/IP, and any manufacturer selling such data should be ostracized and blackballed. Chang is also rallying other manufacturers to bundle and negotiate for a higher price, reflecting manufacturing community pushback against AI firms' data-collection tactics.
