Former OpenAI researcher Richard Ngo says he almost called Anthropic safety researchers 'pretending to care' and mostly stands by it. His bar for actually caring: willingness to quit like Coxon did — which he argues has more real 'impact' than any Anthropic safety researcher is having, whatever copes they use for staying.
