Stealth AI lab Apex Ultra emerges to build Engineering Superintelligence with Alpine F1 as first partner
HazyResearch · x · 2026-10-01
Apex Ultra, a new frontier AI lab, has come out of stealth to build "Engineering Superintelligence" (ESI): AI that can design, simulate, test, and build complex machines. The lab argues ESI can't be trained on the open internet and must learn where engineering actually happens, against real physics and consequences.
Its first proving ground: Alpine F1 has named Apex Ultra its official AI for Engineering Partner, training and evaluating ESI on some of the hardest engineering problems at the pace of Formula One, where every race weekend yields a definitive result.
