MIT professor and FLI founder Max Tegmark announced Molloch, a new film produced with FLI, written and directed by Tom Cozens and starring Fiona Hampton, Parker Sawyers, David Buttle and Buddy Wignall-Ho.
The film explores what he calls the fourth and least-discussed AI dystopia: humanity losing power to obedient AI even without AI going rogue. He lists four scenarios:
- Rogue AI
- Obedient AI misused by humans
- Obedient AI enabling a 1984-style surveillance state
- Race-to-replace dynamics with obedient AI
The plot follows an engineer who built the technology, grappling with dark forces, her family and her CEO over pulling the plug amid worldwide AI-driven job losses.
