Cloudflare opens internal Quicksilver KV store as Workers KV Instant, reads 60% cheaper than KV

- Cloudflare has opened up Quicksilver, its internal key-value store with microsecond reads and instant key updates across its whole network, as a new Workers KV Instant mode.
- It targets small, read-heavy, rarely-updated data: reads cost 60% less than Workers KV; writes and storage are pricier since each write replicates to hundreds of locations, though negligible for the intended use cases.
- For larger datasets, Workers KV and R2 remain the better fit — right tool for the job.
