- Schmidt Sciences announced the fifth cohort of AI2050 Fellows: 28 researchers (22 early-career, 6 senior) receiving up to $16 million over three years.
- Projects include benchmarking capabilities and risks of self-improving AI systems, using AI to predict physically possible but unrecorded extreme weather events, and designing AI to guide immune-cell engineering experiments against cancer and autoimmune disease.
- The program brings the AI2050 community to 127 fellows across 50 institutions in 11 countries, with up to $80 million committed to date. Open-ecosystem researcher Nathan Lambert is among this cohort.
