AI "mind-reading" tool reconstructs what you see from brain scans

MIT Technology Review covers an AI "mind-reading" tool from Michal Irani's team at the Weizmann Institute: it reconstructs what a person is looking at with remarkable precision from brain scans alone, and can also predict brain activity from an image. Researchers hope it will reveal how the brain works and could eventually help locked-in patients communicate or recreate dreams. Neuroethicist Judy Illes calls the work "magnificent," but other scientists warn similar approaches could expose inner thoughts and mental imagery, raising privacy concerns.
