TypeScript educator Matt Pocock notes a behavioral shift in AI coding: in 2020 a developer would fix bad code on sight, but in 2026 models copy existing patterns in the repo to keep the codebase consistent. He wishes models would "moan about the codebase" more and improve it instead of mimicking it.
