Google DeepMind introduced SynthID Bio, embedding detectable signatures into AI-generated protein sequences while preserving function — lab tests across three targets showed comparable binding to unwatermarked proteins. An AlphaFold 3 variant watermarks predicted 3D structures with >99.8% detection at 0.1% false positives. Still a proof of concept; removal resistance remains open.
