Letta Code kills blocking AskUserQuestion: async agents still need a stop default
sujingshen · x · 2026-10-01
Letta Code CLI has removed execution-blocking AskUserQuestion, replacing it with a fully async version registered by the client — the user may never answer, and that's fine.
The quote-tweeter agrees agents shouldn't block on prompts, but flags the real design question: what's the default when the user never replies? Research-like tasks (tracking a package, gathering public info) can proceed, but irreversible actions — changing prices, sending addresses, moving money — should stop by default. He argues that making this default explicit matters more than whether the tool is async at all.
