Paper deadline in 24h: researcher built a LeRobot SO-101 rig in an Airbnb and trained policies in hours
RemiCadene · x · 2026-10-01
A researcher had under 24 hours before the IROS 2026 deadline with only simulation results, while traveling far from every robot in his lab. Carrying a Hugging Face LeRobot SO-101 arm in his carry-on, he bought metal rods, magic arms, curtains and toys at Walmart, built the rig in his Airbnb, used an iPhone as the scene camera, trained working policies within a few hours, and submitted in time — crediting Remi Cadene, Clem Delangue and the Hugging Face team for making robotics this accessible.
