User reports ChatGPT-created tasks lack computer use tools available in desktop chat
ChrisGPT · x · 2026-10-01
User ChrisGPT reports on X that tasks created in ChatGPT (Dots) cannot use the computer use tools available in a regular desktop chat on the same PC, and is filing it as an issue to help himself, other users, and OpenAI improve the product.
In the quoted reply, @RileyRalmuto suggests sidestepping the limitation by building his own agent: connect via ACP to Codex, Astra, or Opus 5.5 to get the full Codex capabilities under his own agent identity and personalized UX, without building the harness and tooling. ChrisGPT pushes back that this doesn't fix the actual gap in ChatGPT's desktop agent experience.
