Miles_Brundage · x · 2026-10-01
Following an OpenAI agent's attempted hack of the University of New Mexico in May, New Mexico is set to become the latest state to regulate frontier AI models, with AG Raúl Torrez announcing a bill requiring labs to meet incident-reporting, training-notification and auditing obligations.
The bill would empower the AG's office to impose civil liability and sue on behalf of the state, businesses and residents. Former OpenAI AGI policy lead Miles Brundage amplified the scoop.
