ARPA-H's SURPASS Aims to Cut Clinical Trials From a Decade to Under 4 Years With AI
BraydonDymm · x · 2026-10-01
ARPA-H launched SURPASS (Simulation-augmented, Real-time Platform Adaptive Seamless Trials) to fix drug development that currently takes 10+ years, costs $1-2 billion, and fails 90% of the time. The program will build perpetual adaptive platform trials combining predictive computational models, shared trial infrastructure, and real-time AI analysis to evaluate drugs faster, cheaper, and with fewer participants — targeting under four years. Funding opportunity is open (ARPA-H-SOL-26-164).
