OpenAI's 20x-to-10x quota cut is a push from Astra to Sol, not a better deal

Defenders say cutting the quota from 20x to 10x is fine because GPT 6.1 Sol is 5x more efficient, so half the usage still gets more done. The author counters that logic only holds if you switch to Sol: OpenAI effectively halved usage, pushed users off Astra onto Sol, and called it a better deal. If you still need Astra for hard work, the same $200 now buys half as much — Sol being cheaper doesn't change that. When models get cheaper and more efficient, those savings should go to users, but OpenAI is keeping them.
