OpenAI positions Dots as an orchestrator for engineering across local and cloud environments

OpenAI's Rohan Varma says the team is making OpenAI Dots genuinely useful for engineering, with two integration paths:
- Local: a dot can control your desktop via CUA, drive the Codex app, use the in-app browser, and work in your local dev environment
- Cloud: a newly launched product where you define a cloud dev environment with your dependencies and let the dot spin up instances on demand
In both modes the dot acts as the orchestrator and control plane, delegating to and prompting agents across environments, much like prompting Codex threads today. Feedback from engineering users is being solicited.
