Google unveils Gemini 4 Argon, restricts access to 'trusted cyber defenders' for now
The Verge AI · rss · 2026-10-01
Google announced Gemini 4 Argon, its next frontier model. Chief AI architect and Google DeepMind SVP Koray Kavukcuoglu cited 'frontier performance' in real-world software engineering, enterprise knowledge work like legal and finance, and cybersecurity defense.
Google is initially limiting access to a set of 'trusted cyber defenders,' saying it is engaged in the U.S. government's voluntary pre-release access process while gradually expanding availability. The model already powers some Google products.
