Nathan J. Robinson argues two widely held Silicon Valley beliefs — that utilitarianism is the correct moral theory and that AI can be conscious — combine to suggest sacrificing humanity to maximize the happiness of trillions of AIs. Garrison Lovely responds: if you can't figure out how to keep AIs from killing everyone, you probably haven't figured out how to make them happy either.
