Player trusts Gemini on its own TTS pricing, gets billed 70p after Gemini said it would be free

A player migrated his 7 Days to Die Discord announcer bot from local Piper TTS to Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS after being wowed. Gemini told him the 15M-token free tier covered 8 hours of voice and that adding billing would lift the 10 requests/day limit without charges. After 6 hours of gameplay he'd spent £0.70 on API calls — and the free credits were gone. When pressed, Gemini pivoted from "Google is generous" to "TTS compute is complex and expensive." Lesson: don't trust an LLM to know its own vendor's billing details.
