Rethinking inference-time scaling: what to compute, not just how much

The author proposes a different lens on inference-time scaling: the question isn't just how much computation to run, but what computation to run, how it should depend on what came before, and when to stop. Scaling reasoning may increasingly mean scaling the ability to structure computation itself.
