Runway unveils Solaris, a World Interface Model that generates apps frame by frame
runwayml · x · 2026-10-01
Runway introduced Solaris, the first product in its new "Interface World Models" family, unveiled by CTO Kamil Sindi at AI Summit.
- Instead of compiling designs into an intermediate representation (code), Solaris renders the interface itself frame by frame in real time, jointly generating visuals and responses to user/agent input.
- The company argues today's software is a "lossy compression" of possible interactions, frozen before users arrive; Solaris removes that trade-off between visual fidelity and interactivity.
- Runway frames it as a self-building operating system where all software is generated without a single line of code.
