Google replaces Gems with Skills, adopting Anthropic's agent-ready prompt standard

Google is replacing Gems with "Skills" in Gemini chat — detailed, reusable prompts invoked via "/" or run automatically by Gemini, based on an open standard from Anthropic. Gems will be phased out starting November, with existing ones migrating automatically, aligning Google with OpenAI and Anthropic in the shift toward agent-ready prompt formats.
