Google Labs shuts Opal as Skills launches globally in Gemini App

Google Labs announced that Skills, a faster way to automate repetitive tasks and save custom instructions in chat, is now rolling out globally in the Gemini App.
Opal, launched as a workflow-customization experiment, informed Gems and now Skills. As Skills go global, Opal will shut down on November 17, 2026, with Google thanking users for shaping customizable AI.
