Agent value isn't measured in minutes saved, but in background execution and trust

The author proposes a better yardstick for automation/agent gains: not literal time units, but whether a task can run in the background, be verified, and leave you confident in the output. A 20-minute manual task is worthwhile to automate even if the agent takes similar or longer — it saves mental bandwidth and context switches, a nonlinear benefit you only appreciate once you actually get that free time.
