Independent frontier model verification needs serious investment now, expert urges

Only a handful of expert independent groups can currently test whether frontier models actually have the safety controls companies claim. The author argues these "green shoots" must become "mighty oaks" fast, requiring investment, money and talent into an independent verification sector — California has started, and the FRONTIER Act would do it nationally.
