Developer GOROman showed off a Mario-style game generated with Codex using the modretro Chromatic plugin at OpenAI DevDay. The pipeline genuinely compiles to a .gbc file, meaning the output should run on actual Game Boy Color hardware — AI coding agents reaching all the way onto retro consoles.
