A Cloudflare engineer announced a major upgrade to Sandboxes: scaling to 100k+ starts per second with sub-1s cold starts, dynamic image & resources, disk snapshots, and programmable egress interception — all built on Durable Objects, with Dynamic Isolates available alongside.
Sandboxes provide isolated execution environments for AI agents; this upgrade tackles startup speed and resource isolation for agents running at large scale, a significant infra update for anyone building agent platforms.
