OpenAI dots user reports cloud environment wiped clean, hours of setup data gone

A Reddit user reports that after setting up OpenAI's dots and syncing it to their vault so it could learn their projects, the dots cloud computer showed a red dot and came back as a completely fresh environment — all data gone, confirmed by the dot's own self-check.
The user questions whether this is expected behavior (which would make dots fairly useless) or an action taken by OpenAI without any communication, and complains that the new dots system badly needs more documentation.
