Indie dev uses Claude Opus 5.5 to upgrade Earth Explorer, a globe-spinning geography app for kids
pandeyparul · x · 2026-09-30
Developer pandeyparul originally built Earth Explorer — a CesiumJS + GPT-4.1 app that lets kids spin, zoom and quiz their way around an interactive globe — during Windsurf's temporary free access to premium models.
She has now revamped it with Claude Opus 5.5: pick a destination and a plane flies across the globe along its real route, showing the path and distance covered, encouraging kids to learn geography by exploring rivers, mountains and day-night rotation rather than guessing. She says the Opus 5.5 rewrite turned out far better than the original.
