Researchers at Maynooth University (Ireland) published the Scaffolded DNA Computer (SDC) in Nature. Inspired by DNA origami, they mix short DNA fragments with one long scaffold in a drop of salt water; a brief heat pulse kicks off interactions among billions to trillions of strands. It computes 100-bit addition without electricity, ranking among the fastest and most complex DNA computers ever built—still far slower than silicon, but remarkably fast for DNA computing.
