Ken Griffin Gives $500M to CMU, Computer Science School Renamed in His Honor

Citadel founder and CEO Ken Griffin is donating $500 million to Carnegie Mellon University, and its School of Computer Science is renamed the Kenneth C. Griffin School of Computer Science. The gift is part of a $1B Pittsburgh investment within a $3B commitment — the largest in higher education history — that includes a new Miami campus. Funds will expand research, compute and AI access, and student support.
