A small experiment got out of hand: the author described 25 painters only by their style — never by name — and gave each a subject they couldn't have seen (a video call, a livestream, a delivery bike), five paintings each, hung as an online museum with labels and prompts.
The interesting failure: even with no name in the prompt, the model keeps reaching for the famous picture. Describe waves and a boat in that woodblock manner and you get The Great Wave; a pale face on a bridge yields The Scream, sometimes hanging in a frame behind the figure. Getting a new picture out of a known hand required rewriting the subject over and over and discarding most attempts.
Everything was generated with GPT Image 2.5 except one room; the author asks for reliable ways to keep a style without inheriting its greatest hits.
