Agentic Code Review: As Coding Agents Write More Code, the Bottleneck Shifts to Reviewing It
Roger_M_Taylor · x · 2026-09-30
As coding agents generate more code, the bottleneck is shifting from writing it to reviewing it.
- Traditional flow: developer writes code, opens a PR, automated checks run, a human reviews, and feedback loops until merge.
- Agentic code review moves this loop earlier and makes more of it autonomous: one coding agent produces a change, a separate review agent inspects it, findings feed into another revision, and the cycle repeats—starting before a PR is even opened and continuing through CI and the PR workflow.
- Beyond per-change review, growing change volume means teams must also triage what deserves attention, understand what actually changed, and manage shipping risk—the broader idea behind agentic change management.
