OpenAI engineer Gabriel Chua, who flew in from Singapore for his 4th DevDay (first as an employee), shares how the team's dots demo came together and praises colleague Holly's on-stage recovery. Initially skeptical—already comfortable with Codex automations—he was won over by real examples: his dot noticed a canceled rideshare and asked if he was okay before a flight; it walked him through his day and told him to eat and rest when he was exhausted; it spawns Codex threads using CUA and ultrafast to proactively scan PRs for changes that could break the demo; and even the post itself was written with his dot's help.
