Omnigent v0.16.0 ships copy-on-write sandbox edits, unified workspace browser for AI agents
matei_zaharia · x · 2026-09-30
Open-source AI agent framework Omnigent released v0.16.0 with several engineering improvements:
- Desktop: redesigned onboarding that detects returning users, installs the CLI from inside the macOS app, and offers an organization-preset "Join your team" path
- Workspace: a unified workspace browser and compact file panel with badges for added/modified/deleted files, plus Show in Finder and an in-app browser option
- Sandbox: Linux agents can use copyonwrite: true on sandbox writepaths so edits stay in a disposable layer; shallow and blobless Git clones are now supported
- Admin: default new sessions to public (off/sandbox-only/all), and the new OMNIGENTWSALLOWEDORIGINS setting controls allowed origins
- Also improves runner reconnection and harness reliability; check the breaking changes before upgrading.
