- Always-on is what the market needed — no worrying about WiFi or whether your machine is awake.
- Each Dot gets a dedicated persistent VM, echoing Meta's Muse bet: persistence is what makes an agent feel like a teammate rather than a just-in-time tool.
- Killer use case: ambient watchdog — monitor Slack for duplicated team work, watch spend and apply for better credit cards, handle gift ordering, manage gym bookings from Apple Watch. AI gets ongoing responsibilities.
- Architecture settling on "big brain managing a thousand tiny ones" — smaller models plus the Decisions API.
- The product video was all dictation, no computer screens shown — a device-agnostic pitch; Dots may be the brain/paradigm for the Ive device.
- Multitasking remains unsolved: with proactive agents, you become the context-switcher, and chat threads are a poor primary UI — an opening for designers.
- The name is a bit cute; only one primary Dot for now. It's buggy today, but the early announce was an intentional play to pull attention from Muse, GrokBot, and Instinct.
