Kafgres embeds a Rust Kafka broker inside Postgres, clients can't tell the difference

Someone rewrote Kafka in Rust and embedded it directly into Postgres via pgrx. The project, called Kafgres, lets standard Kafka clients connect to Postgres on port 9092 and work seamlessly — the database effectively acts as a Kafka broker, and clients literally can't tell the difference. The unusual engineering stunt is drawing attention on X, with a thread linking to implementation details.
