Anthropic reportedly files to go public after narrowing $8B 2025 loss to near breakeven

Anthropic has reportedly filed to go public. A viral post claimed a $42B loss on $4B 2025 revenue, but the numbers look very different:
- Actual 2025 operating loss was around -$8B, not $42B.
- Q2 2026 alone brought $11.5B+ in revenue — nearly 3x all of FY2025 — with the annualized run rate past $65B and reportedly heading above $100B.
- Operating margin compressed from -175% in 2025 to -13% in Q1 2026, then turned operating-profitable in Q2 (non-GAAP, due to employee shares). For context, SpaceX went public at a -13.9% operating margin.
The author's argument: if heavy investment in SpaceX was justifiable, Anthropic's trajectory is hard to call worse. Note some figures, especially 2026 numbers, are unverified.
