Penrose says Hawking used his black hole idea without credit: 'should have been a joint paper'

Roger Penrose recounts on a podcast that after telling Stephen Hawking about black hole area increase while staying overnight in Cambridge, Hawking called the next morning with a new use: an inequality for two colliding black holes. Penrose says Hawking wrote it up without crediting him, though Hawking later admitted the idea's origin, saying "it really should have been a joint paper."
