ComfyUI seeks testers for new Asset System: indexed files, persistent output history

Alexis, PM on ComfyUI's Core Engine team, is inviting users to try the new Asset System before it ships to everyone. It changes how ComfyUI tracks files (models, inputs, outputs): instead of relying only on folder scanning, ComfyUI keeps an index of assets so it can reload and persist output history, and browse, search, and reference files more reliably — the foundation for many requested asset-management improvements.
How to enable:
- Install/update ComfyUI from the latest master commit
- Launch with --enable-assets
- Remove the flag to turn it off; files stay untouched
Feedback wanted: any slowdowns (startup, first launch, model loading — especially with large model folders or network/external drives), breakage in custom nodes, extramodelpaths.yaml, or workflows losing track of files; plus your setup details (OS, Desktop vs portable, folder sizes) for reproduction.
