Per the FT, Anthropic's IPO prospectus unusually warns of 'existential risks to humanity.' Matt Levine notes the securities-law paradox: disclosing that your AI might kill everyone offers little legal benefit, since no one would be left to sue. Nathan Calvin adds that AI companies are still strongly incentivized to disclose sub-existential catastrophic risks, and that going public makes hiding AI safety incidents arguably securities fraud — a safety upside of Anthropic and OpenAI listing.
