RuneScape Bench Turns an Open-Source MMO Into a Multi-Agent Testbed for LLM Agents

Max Bittker will present RuneScape Bench: MMOs for Agents at Recurse Center on October 14. The project, built as RS-sdk, converts LostCity — an open-source implementation of the game — into a testbed for multi-agent experiments.
- Why an MMO: shared open worlds naturally force agents to trade, coordinate, and trust one another, making it a rich environment for studying multi-agent behavior.
- Broad implications: results could inform coding-agent library design, evals, LLM post-training, game design, simulated economics, and the future of multi-agent systems.
