ChatGPT Work mode demands root access, locking out users for weeks

A paying Reddit user reports ChatGPT's desktop Work mode now requires root access for everything — a permission that would give the agent unrestricted access to the entire PC instead of staying confined to work folders. Unable to use Work mode or Projects for weeks and stonewalled by OpenAI's AI customer-service bot, the user says they're done, noting Claude has no such issue.
