Commentator argues OpenAI's DevDay marks the start of its consumer AI decline

Blogger ivanbezdomny, in a discussion with Ben Thompson, argues that while OpenAI won't abandon consumer AI products overnight, this DevDay may be seen as the beginning of that decline.

His core point: reviewing PDFs and spreadsheets was once ChatGPT's exclusive capability, but now Meta's Muse can probably handle it too, and Google covers it via the Gemini app and Google.com. With alternatives everywhere, he sees no reason for consumers to stick with OpenAI's Dots-style products — especially since "Zuck bought you a CPU with 8GB of RAM," a jab at Meta's hardware bundling advantage.
