WSL Containers hits GA on Windows, wslc compose on the roadmap
unixterminal · x · 2026-09-30
Microsoft announced WSL Containers is now generally available. Run wsl --update or grab the latest GitHub release to get the wslc.exe CLI (alias container.exe) for building, running and deploying Linux containers directly on Windows, plus a WSL containers API for running containers programmatically in native Windows apps — enabling scenarios like local AI workloads. Microsoft says wslc compose is in development and on the roadmap.
