Counting the resets: 15 Codex resets in ~60 days equal roughly +174% extra usage
scartissue232 · reddit · 2026-09-30
A user counted OpenAI's Codex quota resets over 60 days: 11 global resets plus 4 banked ones. Normal weekly allowances over that span equal 8.6 full weekly quotas; had the same compute simply been baked into the plan, the resets amount to 2.28x normal usage (2.74x including banked resets), or roughly +174% more. The author admits not every reset lands at 0%, but argues Codex would feel like a very different product if that compute were just part of the normal limits — dubbing OpenAI the "Company of Resets™".
