AI policy researcher Miles Brundage flagged another case of ignored warnings, arguing this should be one's baseline assumption for all AI incidents — he is aware of very few cases where no one saw things coming.
In a follow-up, he added that organizational culture becomes extra important in the absence of strong regulation, and that relying on culture alone is a nutty situation which merits urgent attention from policymakers — and is itself a problem.
