OpenAI DevDay 2026: 20+ Launches as ChatGPT Becomes a Work Operating System

OpenAI DevDay 2026 kicked off with 20-plus product and feature announcements. The thrust: make ChatGPT your operating system for work — documents, slides, and agents in one place on your computer — and let developers and startups build businesses on top of it.
Five announcements that matter:
- Dots: persistent agents inside ChatGPT that retain context and keep working over time (think OpenClaw, Grok Bots, and Muse).
- Space and an office suite: a Google Drive-like place to work with your Dot, plus ChatGPT-native apps for documents, slides, and spreadsheets.
- Developer-built apps and discovery: full apps inside ChatGPT, called "plugin extensions," with a directory and automatic in-conversation recommendations to help users find you.
- Portable subscriptions: Plus and Pro usage in other apps, starting with about 15 partners; separately, Marketplace is a catalog of approved partner software that eligible enterprise customers can purchase using part of their existing OpenAI spending commitments.
- The Decisions API: possibly the biggest of the five, OpenAI's answer to Jev, the buzzy model that acts as a "smart if-then statement." In testing it beats Jev on at least one dimension — it is multimodal, accepting image input — and led on speed and accuracy in a few early tests but trailed on broader evals. It is previewing today, and depending on price could reshape the ecosystem.
OpenAI also introduced a model called Sol 6.1 (Astra-powered but cheaper) and Ultrafast inference (250 tokens…).
